ABSTRACT
With the rapid development of the new media and the internal problems, the Party
newspapers are facing strong punches and serious competitions. The cover page's
headline news are treated as eyes and guidelines of newspapers and they have close
ties with newspapers’ fascinating degree and even sales volume. So we should start the
transformation of Party newspapers from cover page's headline news and try to take
the cover page's headline news as the breakthrough. This article first defines and
evaluates related variables through the content samples of the cover page's headline
news of Jiefang Daily. Afterwards, it counts collected data based on these variables.
Later this article combines the collected data and Jiefang Daily’s image media, reader
orientation and function together to discover Party newspapers’ characteristics of
communication and existing problems, which then come up with
feasible, believable solutions for providing references of Party newspapers’
reformation.
It is exactly based on this situation that this article selected 2008-2013 cover
page's headline news of Jiefang Daily to be discussed. By being creative, the article
studies the research theme with the method of content analysis, analysing the cover
page's headline news of Jiefang Daily’s content, in order to study the party
newspaper’s characteristics of communication in terms of topics, sources and contents.
It deeply explores characteristics of communication and existing problems of Party
newspaper under the background of media transformation’s era, and puts forward the
feasible solutions more specifically according to collected data. Therefore the thesis
provides the theory basis and the reality reference for the questions which exist in the
reformation of Party newspaper.
Through our research, we found that Jiefang Daily’s characteristics of
communication mainly highlight the abundant special reports and
the mainstream value of the society-conveying’s work directories. While there are also
similar problems need to be solved like news homogenization caused by too much
Xinhua News Agency’s feeds, formalized and modified conference reports, political
propaganda in cover pages’ headlines, low optimal reach caused by too much
transitions, over much political news images and inaccurate news report created by too
few direct speeches, etc. Actually there are two major issues in the reformation of Party
newspaper. The first one is how to seek the balance between news communication and
propaganda guide, and the other one is how to deal with news publishing flexibly
according to the news communication rule better. In the future, Jiefang Daily should
strengthen deep transition, aiming at news value-oriented and propaganda
arts-principle rules in order to endeavor newspaper’s brand value persistently, insisting
on positive broadcast function and protrude news ontology’s value and quality.
This article takes Jiefang Daily as the research example, and roundly analyzes the
headline news from 2008 to 2013. This paper is divided into five parts. The
first part explains the background, purpose literature review of writing this paper and
significance of the research. The second chapter is the general situation about the cover
page's headline news of Jiefang Daily. The third chapter counted the research variables
and results Daily's cover page's headline news for six years and analyses collected data
in terms of topics, sources and contents. The forth chapter is main about the
characteristics and existing problems of Daily's cover page's headline news. The fifth
chapter are revelations and suggestions.
