ABSTRACT
Paint industry has developed rapidly in China since the market economy policy
was carried out. A great number of small & medium paint enterprises(SMPE)appeared
like bamboo shoots after a spring shower,
and multinational enterprises in this line have
come to China to make business. But the foreign brands have occupied the most part
market share for many years .The well-known brands in the market are mostly from
foreign countries, for example, Nippon Paint and Dulux Paint, thus it forms the present
situation that we have large number of SMPE in this line, large quantity of production
and consumption, while have not many big and famous local brands.
At present , some SMPE with advanced manage concept gradually began to attach
more importance to brand strategy and now it forms a strategy with some kind of scale
and development .They even set up their own internationalized brand strategy. But,
generally speaking, the situation and prospect of the SMPE paint industry do not allow
any optimism .Many potential threats and problems remain to be solved. For example,
the products with no standard scale , no competitive ability ,etc.
In order to improve competitive forces , to survive and to have a better
future, it is an urgent matter of the moment that how to benefit from the experience of
others and build up our own brand strategy.
So the article is focused on the brand strategy problems among SMPE as research
object .First,it is to explain such concepts and meanings as brand and brand strategy as
well as combining the features of paint industry and paint products; secondly,it is to
provide feasible research on brand strategy for SMPE; thirdly it makes detailed analysis
for the elements of enterprise brand strategy system of SMPE, thus putting forward the
thoughts and modes SMPE strategy selecting; fourthly,the article also searched the
implementation of SMPE brand strategy from the views of brand positioning ,brand
communication ,brand extension and brand value evaluation , and hope that it can put
forward some constructive suggestions for the operation and management of SMPE. In
the end, looking into the example of Xinshili Paint, we can verify the article’s results.
After analyzing the problems existing in the brand strategy, we propose some
suggestions on the brand strategy of the company. It is also hoped that this article may
make some instructive suggestions on the construction of brand strategy for SMPE.
