ABSTRACT
China has resumed its private higher education since 1980s. Now, Chinese
private higher education has entered a stage of rapid development after more than 20
years development. The number of private colleges and universities increase
dramatically. Private higher education has become an important component of China's
higher education. It is an important way to realize the change from elite education to
mass education of Chinese higher education. Private undergraduate colleges and
universities as the vanguard of private higher education, its quality attracted more
attention while the number gradually developed. Now, however, we evaluate the
quality of private colleges and universities with the methods how we evaluate
governmental universities. It doesn’t meet the actual situation that the private colleges and
universities is still in start-up period. It is not conducive to improve the quality of
private colleges and universities, and do not conduce to promoting the popularization
of higher education in our country. This article try to introduce American higher
education accreditation policy, make education accreditation instead of education
evaluation and build suitable education accreditation policy for private undergraduate
colleges and universities in our country.
According to the mentality of proposing questions, analyzing questions and
solving questions, first of all, the article make depth analysis on the status of private
undergraduate colleges and universities in our country and the impact on the quality of
private undergraduate colleges and universities, make analysis on the method of
education evaluation for these private undergraduate colleges and universities and put
the current problems of education evaluation of private undergraduate colleges and
universities. Then make depth analysis on the American higher education accreditation
policy, deeply compares American higher education accreditation policy with the
method of education evaluation for us and make the analysis on the feasibility of using
higher education accreditation in China. At last, it puts forward the principles and
advices of building education accreditation policy for private undergraduate colleges
and universities in our country on the basis of introducing American higher education
accreditation policy.
