ABSTRACT
In recent years, as China-Africa economic and trade cooperation enhancing, more
and more Chinese enterprises carry out "going global" business actively, so China’s FDI
to Africa increases steadily. There has come out the boom of direct investment to Africa.
At the same time, the resources in Africa are relatively abundant, most of which have
not been developed. There will be a large number of opportunities for Chinese
enterprises to direct investment to Africa. China’s FDI to Africa can also help push the
development of Africa. So it can achieve a mutually beneficial win-win result. However,
there will be many investment risks at the behind of investment boom in Africa. Chinese
investors should pay sufficient attention on it. Researching on Chinese enterprises’
direct investment in Africa and their risks can guide Chinese enterprises direct
investment in Africa better.
In this paper, firstly, introduce the background and significance of this topic and
Literature Review on research at home and abroad. And describe there are certain
theoretical and practical significances researching on this topic. Then the concept of
FDI and risk are defined and the object of this paper is clarified. FDI theories are set
forth and Chinese enterprises’ direct investment to Africa is analyzed. Secondly,
research on the current situation of Chinese enterprises’ direct investment to Africa. And
analyze the motivation and the characteristics of Chinese enterprises’ direct investment
to Africa. The risk of direct investment to Africa can not be ignored. On this basis, from
the perspectives of the external environmental risks and business risks of enterprises
own, the risks of Chinese enterprises’ direct investment to Africa are analyzed with AHP.
AHP can be for the analysis of specific cases. Finally, propose the specific measures for
management the risk of Chinese enterprises’ direct investment to Africa.
There are three following innovations: First, on the basis of previous studies,
clarify the risk classification of Chinese enterprises’ direct investment to Africa
combined with the African reality, and information risk as a major risk are incorporated.
Second, analyze the risks of Chinese enterprises’ direct investment to Africa with AHP,
and present detailed evaluation standards. Last, specific risk management measures are
set forth to the different risks of Chinese enterprises’ direct investment to Africa.
