ABSTRACT
The wavefront coding technology is used to extend the depth of field in the optical
imaging system. It cleverly combines optical signal processing technologies with digital
signal processing technologies, and it aims at the extension of the depth of field in the
optical system. The wavefront coding technology not only makes the depth of field
increased by one magnitude, but also reduces the number of optical components greatly,
and then makes the optical imaging system smaller in the size, lighter in the weight, and
lower in the cost. But the technology makes the image blurred in the imaging system
because of the extension of the depth of filed. Not only for theories but also for
applications, it is necessary and meaningful to add image restoration system in the
wavefront imaging system for retrieving colorful images and advancing the effect of the
extension of the depth of field.
Imaging Blurring makes the original clear image blurred. So an appropriate image
restoration system is designed in the paper to overcome the Image Blurring. In addition,
images which are sampled by Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) are
filtered by Bayer Color Filter Array and as a result, some information on the color
channels will be lost. So some Color Interpolation technologies are used to retrieve the
lost color information. The research of Color Interpolation technologies is a focus in the
paper. Some important algorithms are researched and analyzed in the paper as follows,
some Color Interpolation algorithms, Constrained Least Squares Filtering,
Unconstrained Least Squares Filtering, and Lucy-Richardson Iteration Restoration. The
design of the image restoration system in the wavefront coding imaging system is the
focus in the paper, which aims at advancing the effect of the extension of the depth of
field. In the paper, the image restoration system is designed. The components in the
restoration system includes None-Linear Prefilterring, Image Blurring, Image
Restoration and Color Interpolation. And Image Restoration in the paper includes not
only Image Restoration in a specified focus, but also in full focuses.
The results of experiments prove that some algorithms are advanced in the paper
and a new algorithm is proposed, which actually has a good interpolation effect. The
image restoration system designed in the paper performs well based on well known
Point Spread Function.
